Brainport International Community is the program that attracts and retains
international students, knowledge workers and their families in the Brainport Eindhoven Region and the South of the Netherlands.

Top technology region Brainport in the Southeast Netherlands is the ideal
place for study, work, career building, self-development and a pleasant home. Brainport International Community (BIC) works to promote this worldwide and ensures new arrivals feel at home quickly and will want to stay. Attracting and keeping international talent is very important to Brainport, since the region needs 1,100 knowledge workers per year to meet (future) shortages of highly skilled technical workers.

To be able to recruit much needed knowledge workers and students, Brainport International Community promotes the Southeast Netherlands worldwide and develops and maintains networks with international organizations and educational institutes. BIC attends career fairs and other recruitment events around the world and has a useful website with study and career opportunities.

Settling in

The expat centres in the Southeast Netherlands make sure that international knowledge workers and their families receive a warm welcome to the region. At their offices, internationals can arrange all the formalities and services required for studying or working and living her.

Ensuring students, international knowledge workers and their families have a soft ‘landing’ and building a community, facilities and career path to contribute to a high-quality standard of living.

Living in

For international knowledge workers, their spouses and children it is very important that they feel at home. Which is why Brainport International Community is building an active international community through uniting various smaller networks (expat clubs), and through the organisation of events like the Brainport International Weekend. Furthermore, BIC ensures that the international knowledge worker and his or her partner know about the career opportunities in the region so that they stay in the Southeast Netherlands.

Strategy

Brainport International Community is not only an operational program, but also a strategic one. We aline our strategy with the Brainport 2020 vision . We study various subjects regarding the international labor market, we build worldwide collaborations between top technology regions and link programmes and projects in the triple helix: companies, educational & research institutions and governments. Our Brainport offices in The Hague and Brussels link regional actions to national and European policies in order to guarantee the execution of our regional ambitions.

BIC is a Brainport Development programme. Brainport Development is a new-style development company, working with representatives from industry, knowledge institutions and government to strengthen the Brainport top technology region. Brainport is an important cornerstone of the Dutch economy.
